Day 1 - Home Away From Home

Admitted to Hospital today. Busy day of baseline tests and getting to know our new home away from home. The people here have all been so great!  So happy with our decision with doctors, nurses, and hospital.  We were ready with our MADELINESTRONG bracelets that the Clark's made up!  So awesome seeing so many pictures of people wearing them today!

The biggest event today was the surgery to put in the port this afternoon. She woke up with quite a bit of pain, but feeling a little better with meds this evening. Thanks for all of the prayers and thoughts today. We are so blessed to have so many people care about Madeline and our family!

Stay #MadelineStrong!  Chemo starts tomorrow.

Thank You

Thank you so much for continuing to pray for our family. We were able to confirm today that the cancer has not spread, and both doctors we visited with would follow the same treatment protocol. The treatment for osteosarcoma is very straightforward - six rounds of in-patient chemo over 10 weeks, surgery to remove the tumor, and then nine more rounds of chemo over 15 weeks. Obviously this will turn our lives upside-down. We are so blessed to have so many friends and family members to help us through this journey. We love and appreciate you all. Please keep praying for Madeline - that she can be strong and brave and that her spirit will be lifted knowing so many people are praying for her.

Diagnosis

Well, not the news we wanted today but God has a plan even if we don't understand it.
Initial lab shows osteosarcoma. We will go for scans next week to make sure it hasn't spread and then work with doctors to determine treatment. Most likely chemo before they remove the tumor and more chemo after they remove it.
Scary times, but doctor today was positive that we are going to beat this. If anyone can, it's Madeline Prugh. Going to be a long few months, so keep the prayers coming. Thank all of you for all the love already this week. We are lucky to have so many people that care about our girl.

Life Change

Thank you so much for wrapping our family in prayers this week. We are beyond grateful for your love and support.
Madeline's left calf had been hurting and swollen for about a week and when rest and ice didn't work we took her for an X-ray and MRI on Monday. On Tuesday we met with our orthopedic surgeon who confirmed that Madeline has a tumor on her left fibula. She will have a surgical biopsy tomorrow (Friday) which will determine the next steps. She is feeling very worried which is understandable for a girl who is never sick and who should be thinking about 7th grade, cross country and soccer.
Please pray that Madeline feels strong and not so anxious. Please pray for the doctors and nurses who will care for her. Please pray for our family - that we can be strong and faithful.
We are hoping to know more as early as Friday afternoon. We will keep everyone posted.
